One of the standout features of Hunan River Bistro is its diverse menu that expertly showcases the rich flavors of Hunan cuisine. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of dining in this style before, you’ll know it’s all about bold spices, vibrant vegetables, and fresh ingredients. One of their signature dishes, the Hunan Beef, is a perfect example of what makes the restaurant stand out. Tender slices of beef are stir-fried to perfection with a medley of peppers and aromatic herbs, all drizzled in a spicy sauce that perfectly balances heat with sweetness. It's not just a dish; it’s an experience that leaves you craving more.

Another must-try is the General Tso's Chicken, which is a crowd favorite for a reason. Crispy, golden pieces of chicken are tossed in a sauce that has just the right amount of sweetness and tang. It’s a dish that shows off the restaurant’s ability to master the classic American-Chinese flavors while staying true to its Hunan roots.

The restaurant offers plenty of vegetarian options, too. If you’re looking for something light yet flavorful, try the Sautéed String Beans. The green beans are cooked just right - tender with a slight crispness, and the garlic sauce adds the perfect kick. It’s a dish that highlights the restaurant’s ability to turn simple vegetables into something extraordinary.

For those who appreciate spice, the Hot and Sour Soup is a fantastic choice. With its bold flavors and a satisfying blend of heat and tang, it’s a perfect starter. • Ordered the orange chicken on DoorDash was very nervous because quality in spring is very bad nowadays and takeout DoorDash orders usually are less quality for some reason .. I looked at it and the smell I could tell the sauce to the chicks was Grade A .. I’m so stunned at the quality it brought me to tears and send a pic to my family amazing food and rice and 14 dollar it’s a steal .. I’m surprised this is in spring I can’t wait to go inside and try it there .. I’m flabbergasted at the quality and speed and freshness .. the sauce is even homemade

  • This was our first time eating lunch here today, and I am sorry that we have waited this long to come here. We had the shrimp toast, which is one of my favorite appetizers. It had good flavor. We ate off of the lunch menu and I had the General Tso's Chicken, which I got with hot and sour soup, fried rice and 2 cream cheese puffs. (You had the choice of the crab puffs or egg roll). The hot and sour soup was great. It had just enough spice but was not overwhelming...which is a plus for me. The General Tso's sauce was delicious, again with only a little spice, but just enough for me to enjoy. Overall, a tasty lunch meal. We will visit again.

  • The food here is decent, I prefer it to some of the other places around. To-go packs are always filled to the brim. Their fried bread has a nice texture and sweetness and could be considered be a dessert in my opinion. The wings were plain but tasted well without any additional sauce on the outside. The house fried rice is loaded with meats, eggs and vegetables as it should be. I also got some chili oil to kick up the hotness.

  • This place reminds me of a restaurant my family loved in the early 2000's that got shut down due to City Center buying out Town and Country. This quaint little restaurant has such a peaceful vibe, the decor is a bit old but it's comfortable and clean. Gives this place some personality. The waitress was very kind and the food was so delicious. The warm wonton soup was flavorful and perfect while the rain gently pattered outside. I ordered the pineapple shrimp fried rice and asked for some chili oil on the side. The chili oil gave the perfect kick to round out the lightly salted fried rice, the shrimp cooked to the perfect texture. I added a lot of chili oil since I love spice. I was sweating but I couldn't stop eating. It's hard to find delicious and plentifully portioned Chinese food for the right price but this place nails it. I'd be more than willing to make the drive out here again for that nostalgic feeling of a hungry middle schooler craving delicious Chinese cuisine on a Friday afternoon.
